Descrição | Since 1997 the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) have cooperated in the monitoring of global financial flows for population activities in the so-called Resource Flows (RF) project. Each year, the RF team collects primary data from public and private sources in donor countries, developing countries and countries in transition in order to document the global financial flows forpopulation activities. This year’s Euromapping report – tracking the state of international donor funding for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Official Development Assistance (ODA) – comes at an important time in the current debates on the post-2015 agenda and on global commitments to SRHR. The report precedes the 20th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo, and contributes to the on-going debates about how to take forward the ICPD process beyond 2014. This context provides an excellent opportunity for civil society, parliamentarians and policymakers to take stock of progress made in the implementation of the Cairo Programme of Action, and whether international donors have adhered to the commitments they have made in the field of SRHR. It is also an opportunity to ensure that the human rights-based approach to SRHR becomes an integral part of the post-2015 agenda. |
